Summer's last hurrah!

The past week we had a spell of cool weather, but yesterday we were treated to one more day of sun and warmth. Seizing the opportunity, we packed up all the children and headed for a day of fun in the sun at the beach. I was hoping it was late enough in the season that we would avoid the large crowds and all that comes with it, and for the most part we did!

There is nothing more fun than scavenging for the best rocks and shells!

When I was down beside the sea
A wooden spade they gave to me
To dig the sandy shore.
My holes were empty like a cup.
In every hole the sea came up,
Till it could come no more.
